Art is something beyond boundaries; you can’t hold it up and pack it or restrict it from continuous movement. It can travel beyond time—from past to future to anywhere on the time horizon. It migrates from developed to underdeveloped nations and vice versa. Its movement is continuous, so why are we holding ourselves back from this movement? Why can’t we let ourselves synchronise with it and delve into this world of artistic paradise? If you open your windows properly, you will witness the breeze of art waiting for you outside. There are a lot of places with the capability of holding these breezes. So let’s head to them and awaken the artist or art appreciator inside us.
So this is my personal bucket list, which I am sharing with you so that you can enjoy those art privileges which my naked eyes witnessed and want to witness.
The Louvre, Paris, France
Even though you may or may not be an art lover, you must have heard about the iconic work of Leonardo da Vinci, the oil painting of Mona Lisa. But do you know who preserved this masterpiece? With more than 380,000 similar masterpieces, the Louvre is one of the biggest art museums in the world. According to my personal experience there, I recommend this as one of the best ways to start your museums and galleries exploration. You can find everything from basic vibrant oil paintings to complex modern art there, which can be a good head start for your pilgrimage.
The Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italy
Art is a form of depicting culture and improving the renaissance associated with it. And when we talk about the Renaissance, how can we forget the mother of it—Florence? A beautiful town in Italy that witnessed most of the early 16th-century cultural movement and gave birth to many artists like Michelangelo Buonarroti and Giovanni Boccaccio. If you are a fan of any of these artists or Renaissance art, or even have a keen interest in the cultural movement of the 16th and 17th centuries, then you must visit it once in your life. Apart from the art pieces, the museum’s building itself is quite beautiful, with big windows withholding the iconic views of the Arno River and the Ponte Vecchio.
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City, USA
Widely known as “The Met,” it is a culturally vibrant art gallery situated in the heart of New York City. With over 2 million diverse art pieces from different parts of the world, it is preserving world history better than anything else. There are marvellous artefacts you’ll find here that speak so much about their origin—which aren’t even available in their home country. Isn’t it ridiculously beautiful? This place has everything for everyone. It may have something for you too. So visit and check out what this place has to offer you. The major highlights of this place are the majestic Temple of Dendur, American Wing, and a vast collection of Gotham art.
National Gallery, London, England
If you are an admirer of Gotham art like me, then this place is a must-visit for you. Rich in collections of art heritage dating back to the 13th century, this place is the ultimate pilgrimage for all art lovers around the world. It’s one of the rare places where you can witness art masters like Van Gogh, Renoir, and Turner all together. The interior of this place is quite an art piece of its own with its simplistic yet futuristic design, which adds even more to your art exploration journey. Apart from that, they host a lot of exhibitions and events that you should attend at least once in your life.
Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Netherlands
The National Museum of the Netherlands carries the weight of Dutch history and their culture with eye-pleasing art pieces such as Rembrandt’s The Night Watch and Vermeer’s The Milkmaid. This place covers almost everything that took place during the Dutch era. You must be aware of the giant history of the Dutch—their wars and their widespread kingdom. Why not witness it with your eyes? If you have any sort of interest in the Dutch era, then this place should definitely be part of your next Netherlands trip.
Wrap Up
See, travelling isn’t all about getting to new places or getting some Insta clicks. Sometimes go where you can feel your soul coming out—screaming and asking for a canvas or some clay to shape its imagination. Then, you must visit some of these to get some inspiration—or you can simply visit them to witness their beauty. These were some recommendations based on my personal experience. Aside from that, there are a lot of art galleries and museums to explore. So my hodophiles, keep exploring!
